This is a purchased blade with Cocobolo scales. The pics don't do the wood justice. The go from golden yellow to a deep purplish color. I do see a scratch that I didn't notice. Dang looks like it will have to be resanded. LOL Enjoy.

The reflection of your flash has washed out most of the fine detail of the Damascus pattern on the folded steel blade also. Why not try taking your photos without the flash and, if they come out too dark, working with them in an imaging program to draw out the color?? There are some basic programs that will do an average job for you or find someone who uses PhotoShop and let them adjust them.

I have taken photos that were completely dark and adjusted them to see all the detail that I expected to see. It is all there, just so under-exposed that you can't see it until you adjust the light ranges and color correction levels.

Nice.  Where did you get the blade?
