I need a 86-95 mercruiser 350 engine. I just took the one out of my boat and all the push rods are bent. A reman, or good used, long block or complete. I just want to get my boat on the water. Thanks

Have you considerred having it rebuilt? Todd at Coastal Engine and Machine on St. Mary in Pcola is who I use for doing those style blocks. He may have one to use instead. His # is 433-7938.

I wouldnt replace it just because the push rods are bent. I would have it rebuilt if you cant do it yourself. No sence in wasting money buying a rebuilt one where you pay for a new crankshaft etc when your is probobly good. Check into having it rebuilt.

| he and I talked about the possibility of rebuilding it last night but the engine was like this when he got it and has been sitting for a long time that way.......he found alot of rust under the valve covers also when he pulled them..... I may have him bring it to the house so we can go through it and see if it's salvagable........

| The OLE motor . I would check compression in each cylinder. Rust is probably from moister. Heck my rockers have some rust on them.. Nature of the beast on the Gulf Coast. I would replace pushrods first. Rerltively easy repair compared to alternative. I used Car City to do my machine work when I rebiult my Mercruiser (3.7 litre 224cu. in. 4cyl.) Had block bored .30 over. . Crank .30 and rods .10.. New pistons and rinngs. Head work. No problems at all.. Bent pushrods . May have been installed (torgued with the cylider in thewrong position.(compression stroke or exhaust stroke First time motor runs , bam bent pushrods. Not sure what the 350 recommends for installation of pushrods.may not matter what stroke cylinder is on. Not sure.. Good luck.

I've rebuilt tons, thats not an issue......on a rebuild, you won't bend push rods unless you install the timing chain/gear wrong. My bet is previous owner trying to run it with a blown head gasket or bad manifold = water in cylinder = bent rods.....that's the most common reason.

It probably is rebuildable. The person i bought the motor from said the previous owner had just rebuilt it, most likley the timing chain broke. But it has sat up for 5 years. I have had a cam shaft break and do the same thing hopefully that didnt happen. I guess i need to tear it down before i end up spending money i dont need too. Thanks Scott I will try to load it up and bring it over today.

| i'm in the process of rebuilding a 350 block and i can promiss you (no offince sea monkey) but you don't want to go with car city machine shop. If you want one of the most knowledgeable chevrolet mans in the bussiness i can tell you where to go. Also, the most important thing about that motor(if you had twin screws if not then it doesn't concern you) Is the motor you pulled reverse rotating motor? If it is , make sure who ever rebuilds it knows what there doing (because of oil jurnals in the crank and other reasons) are it won't last long ....good luck ...pm me if your interested in talking with an excellent engine builder.
