That was one thing that I really liked to do when I was a kid, go rabbit hunting with a good pair of beagles!! I loved to watch my dad's dogs work a trail, barking every step of the chase that special way a beagle barks, and then they would bring that "pesky wabbit" around to us and look so pleased when we took it down! Shooting a rabbit was not much of a challenge at all but watching those cool little dogs earn their dinner was priceless to me!!

I liked hunting them, I HATED cleaning them!! No matter how careful I was or how sharp my skinning knife was, I always managed to get a little bit of pulled fur hair on the outside of the meat and it was danged near impossible to get off!!!

'Course I was just a kid then and it always seemed like a monumental chore to clean what we shot anyway.

Kenny that cleaning tool is so dang handy that I"m afraid to take it away from home because it might go missing.  It really makes cleaning a breeze along with some game shears.

All the shooting was nice and cleaning wasnt so bad but the peolpe that we met really made the trip worth while.  I mean folks invited us to hunt farms, eat dinner, pheasant hunt, and a few offered us lodging.  I've put them on my Christmas list!!!!

MOST EXCELENT

In baseball the strike zone is a conceptual three demensional right angle pentagonal over home plate which defines the boundaries through which a pitch must pass in order to count as a strike when the batter does not swing.

Man that was a good hunt. I love to hear the Beagles tear off after they smell a hot trail.

I miss that kind of hunting. I was raised doing it.

I shoot a 20 gauge remington and love running dogs.  Don't get me wrong, I don't always kill that many rabbits...hell, sometimes I don't kill any when I'm buy myself.  As many of you stated in your IM's and replys, it takes you back to memories of growing up and hunting with family and friends.  It does the same for me and I also find enjoyment out of seeing my dogs grow and mature.

My grandfather (90 years old) is the first to come outside to see how many rabbits I jumped and how many we killed.  Then he will breakout into a story of his own about some dog that he loved and how well they hunted.

My Uncle ( a minister that doesn't have as much time to hunt) calls EVERY day to see how my dogs ran or what I killed.

I'm saying all this to say....these are all the reasons that I hunt.  At onetime I was the kid they tried to leave at home because I couldn't keep up on a all day hunt or my dad thought it was too cold.  So cold granny would take sweet potatoes off the stove for you to put in your pockets  .  Now I'm the youngman that has the opportunity to bring a little enjoyment every once in awhile.

Enjoy the outdoors everyone and let that commonality be the crux of the matter that helps us be better people daily.
