| Tuesday, October 21 2008 Started early today at 7am - stopped by the Liberty Ship to get some live baits but only got a few mingos & small triggers. bluh. Headed on 26nm SW of Destin to fish some natural bottom. Seas were bumpy 2' going out but like Reefcast predicted winds died in the pm & it was a BEAUTIFUL afternoon. Could NOT get any live baits out at any spot we tried because of Flipper - so no Kings or Jaws today. =( Today was mostly all about who could get the fish first - you or Flipper. So it was REEL REEL REEL as fast as you could all day long, lol. Got into some nice Lane Snappers - biggest was 4 lbs & smallest was 18". Also kept getting Red Grouper, all same size, 4" too short & 13.5" Triggers. Scott brought up 2 Red Snapper that were 5 lbs a piece, a sea robin, & a really small moray eel. Most fish caught using frozen baits (cigar minnows, boston mackerel, squid) & strips off fresh white snapper. Back on the hill at 5pm - stinky, tired, sunburnt, and I learned my lesson never wear a white t-shirt out there again =) ...Drinking a Jack's Pumpkin Spice Ale now & got a feeling its going to be an early night.. lol.. Here's some pics: WHO GETS CLAIMS TO THIS FISH? WE BOTH HOOKED INTO IT! LOL...

EVERY SINGLE ONE WAS THIS SIZE:
NICE RIDE HOME - I PUT THE MATE TO WORK CLEANING, HAHA!

Those are some quality Lane's. Did you really both hook into that one Lane? If you did, that is just too cool, I always wondered when I would see that.

We did. We can't figure out which one of us hooked it first. I guess it just went from one of our baits to the next one because at the time we were both fishing off the same side of the boat. Couldn't believe it. I felt a bump tug about the same time Scott did. He started reeling in and then I started bringing mine up - but it was weightless. I thought I had somehow just lost my entire rig - but come to find out he was fighting our fish. =)

| That is one beautiful lane snapper! I looked up the record for lane snapper and as of June 2007 it was six pounds six ounces. Thanks for the pics and report.

Nice report and pictures. We were out SW on Sunday and had the same problem with dolphins.. they were even eating dead baits off the hook.. worste Ive ever seen! We went due south 30+ yesterday and no dolphin but HUNDREDS of sharks.. managed one tuna, and a limit of nice snappers on the way in.. oh.. and caught a 10 inch WHITE TROUT in 300 feet of water!! Things are strange out there sometimes. Nice fish.
