| what line do you use? what do you use inland say for red? 20 or 12 flounder 12 or 8 trout 12 or 8 maybe 6? bottom in state waters? 20? you blue water guys i dont have a clue. 100? seems if i was stand up fishing it would not be any more than 50, anything else seems suicidal. mono or braid? what brand? always get good info on here about leaders have not heard that much on line.

| For inshore fishing in general, I use 10# braid. I Use it for reds and trout on the flats. Sometimes for schooling fish (like ladyfish, spanish, bonita, etc) I use 8# mono for more fun. Offshore I use 50# braid on my big spinning reel for jigging. I use 30# mono on my 30s for trolling and bottom fishing. I'm currently trying to expand on my trolling reels, and want to get some 50s. For my king rod, I have 20# mono with braided backing just in case. For braid, I use powerpro; For mono, I use suffix.

20 lb Stren mono on some of my bottom inshore rods, and 12 lb Stren mono on the others. Pepsi-challenge those different types of lines. Stren works!

I use that or just the ultracast on pretty much all of my inshore reels. No wind knots at all. I still use a floro leader. I don't really put that much into the color of the actual braid, b/c I'm going to use a leader regardless.

| I use as big a line as they will bite. Hell I'd run a slab on the anchor rode and pull-em with the Hondas. Release them by choice not by accident.

| I think my post would be too long if I put every kind of line I use but suffice it to say that for the most part: Power Pro

Use the 10# power pro, but going back to the spider wire ultacast braid, I have had a lot more wind knots with the power pro. 15 to 20 fluro leader or less depending on if site fishing to weary fish.

| Ditto about everything true-king said except I will go to heavier braid such as 15 or 20 when trying to pull redfish out from under docks. For pier fishing I like 17 for kings, 20 mono for tarpon(backed by several hundred yards of 40 braid), and 25-30 mono for cobia.

Thanks! for the input folks. i was looking at braid the other day and didnt have a clue what to get. sounds like the winners are power pro and spider wire for braid and suffix for mono. how about those billfishermen. what do you guys use on those big ole billfish? stand up and bent butt. what pound?

I don't care for braid all that much guess I am old school with the mono. I usually spool my reels with 10 to 12 lb Sufix or Diamond Illusion both are great lines.

| Offshore trolling: 30's are spooled w/ #30 & #40 Ande hi-vis; 50's get #50 or #60 Momoi diamond hi-vis. Leaders depend on the size of the lure and can range between #100-250 for the smaller stuff and #250-400 for the larger heavier lures. Wahoo fishing is mostly done with singlestand for jets and sevenstrand for wahoo bombs with a trolling drail. Bottom bumping: #30-40 Calcutta mono w/ seaguar flourocarbon(heaviest that they can't see so changes are made constantly) Inshore: Doesn't matter much to me,not big on the inshore game but previous advice sounds good. Hope that helped Mark.

I have had my fill with Power Pro, too many failures and I am using Tuf-Line XP now. I will let you know at a later date about how it stacks up.

| BassPro Excel. It is fine line, as good as any of the major brands of Mono and at a fraction of the cost. I dont even think twice about respooling every few months. I also use Seaguar flourocarbon leader.
