It is not hard to understand that fishermen don't tell all.  The fact that noone gives out info about their secret spot is not something that just came up, and has been part of fishing and hunting for many decades if not centuries.

If you had to admit how much info or how much true info you give on the forum, how much would it be in Percentage?

Try to keep it in increments of 10, meaning 10, 20, 30, 40, 50, 60, 70, 80, 90 or 100%.

Be for reall.....Really For Real...

that's what i usually ask myself before i post a report....

'should i tell the truth, or something that sounds good????'

i can't really put a percentage on it, but i'd say (unless it's just before a tourney) i'll tell people what i caught, how i caught it, what i caught it on, and give them a location within about 5 miles (usually i'll say what body of water, and which side)

unless i'm fishing on the pier.... i tell 100% of everything, cause it takes some skill to do that.

I never lie, but I don't provide info without being asked, beyond what I consider reasonable for a report. If someone doesn't have a gallery (pics) to back up their claims I don't pay them much mind anyway.

Usually about 85-90%.

I always tell the truth about my cobia and sailfish hole up the river. Really, as close as I saw it to be true with only leaving out specific location sometimes, if I don't want to tell that I just won't.

If a man is offered a fact which goes against his instincts, he will scrutinize it closely, and unless the evidence is overwhelming, he will refuse to believe it. If, on the other hand, he is offered something which affords a reason for acting in accordance to his instincts, he will accept it even on the slightest evidence. The origin of myths is explained in this way.

I tell the truth about what I caught, but don't tell where I caught it.  I don't post much because I don't take pics and no one cares without pics.

10% - About the only reports Id give that have an actual location would be from a bridge, surf or pier....its too hard to keep a secret spot/technique nowadays with the interent being the instant educator to any novice anglers. No problems with beginners,it just took me 30 years to get it halfway figured out so damn if Im going to give that away in 30 minutes and have 10 boats on my spot the next day.

You should post more often...I enjoy reading your post.  It is obvious that you know what you are talking about and you have a lot you know that would help the rest of us learn.  Pics or no Pics, post what you know.

Let's see, I guess my average is 50%.  That would be derived from always (100%) telling the truth when I am skunked, and never (0%) telling the truth when I have success.  Any math/stats here? That is 50% right?  (A statistician is a person who, with his head in the oven and his feet in the freezer, is, on the average, comfortable.)

I try to be truthful and will omit info to protect especially someone who's living depends on the sport. So say 90%.  I have nothing to prove, glad to help as I appreciate help from fellow sportsman.  I have to be careful in reading some post as I know the info is bogus or grossly overstated.  I would still like an idea where "Yellow Gravel" is.  The dude that gave me coordinates North of Milton for Yellow Gravel cracked me up.  Overall I find plenty of useful fishing info.  It seems most of the chit-chat and off-topic posts is where the BULL really shows up.

Well lets see now,,, Since the main reason I joined this forum was to offer free professional advise to the best of my ability. I would have to say 100%, lots of other things have transpired since then, but I still give only 100%, just my .02, which is worth about .50 to some people,,,,

Garbo, I would say all my posts are 100 % (except those about manatee's).  I always say where and what I caught.  Now I don't give out GPS coordinates, or if I catch tons of fish but let them go, I'll give a good estimate (but maybe off by a fish or 2)
