You need some rustic furniture, some hides, some skulls a few turtle shells and lots on deer, elk and pronghorn, bighorn sheep and a bear hide. a bucket full of pinecones, some bristle cone wood from above timberline, a few arrowheads, a rock collection

throw in some native american indian stuff, some pheasant feathers a coyote and a fox hide

all things that help you remember where you've been, what you've done and who you are.

my entire house is a western style mancave

Interesting - Just as I was getting the bids on my mancave this thread showed up.

Here's the finished wood for the room - now the "Stuff" goes up.

Chico,

You stole one of the key elements of my man-cave/room! The drain and the concrete floor! We had a dog pen made that way when my parents built their house in 1985, hooked to city sewer etc. Ever since then I have been dreaming of my "man cave".

Obviously, the floor would be concrete, painted possibly, but for sure at an angle so all water etc runs to either the center of the room or a chosen corner where there is a drain either going simply outside but able to be closed off for heating/cooling efficency or tied in with city sewer piped where fairly large objects could go down easily. The walls from the floor up to about knee to waist high painted with about a 3" red line painted around the room, as in, DO NOT spray or allow spray to get above this line. Over the drain, whether centered or cornered, would be a deer cleaning station with a nice long metal table just to the side of where she (or hopefully he) hangs. There would be 2 large chest freezers in here. One for "good clean" bait etc, the other for tubs to put fish cleaning remains, and deer remains to freeze until the night before the trash comes, so as we do now we wheel it down and between 8-9pm and 10am even in the summer if frozen solid really no mess/stinch. There would be a kegorator and a fridge w/freezer top for beverage fixins etc. On the wall would be like felt covered hooks or something of the like for the rods&reels, gaffs, downriggers etc, shelving as needed for the lowerunit gear lube, hopefully some 2-stroke tcw-III, also shelving for large items like 270qt Icy Tec type things, spare fuel accessories (if still around), and with all of this each boat I have ever had each compartment it has had has had its own little name/nickname (breadbox, flip down thing, false bottom, etc) and there would be spots to where the items in each of these compartments had their place on a wall. When we cleaned the boat even if we were leaving the next morning to go out of town with it again we took EVERYTHING not bolted down off the boat, cleaned and attempetd to dry the compartment and items and then re-load, if we were not leaving again they were put/thrown in to the "fishing room" where ever I happened to be residing. Like now my 2 bedroom is a 1 bedroom and a storage unit basically except coolers, bait pens, (20) 5gal jugs, (2)26gal tanks etc, etc in moms garage everything you would need to fish a king tourny or start a tackle store for that matter is in that room. Being able to organize it, which it kindof is in my head, but trying to tell anybody else where this and this is doesn't work. This room would eliminate that.

At this point, I believe I have actually decided to have the drain in a corner with items placed away from it in accordidance to how well they handle a splash or two of water. It would be heated/cooled etc probably no windows etc just like a concrete block room with a concrete floor. Would like to have a door leading out to a deck/covered patio etc where grills, smokers and the like are used and possibly kept. Would like to have a door also leading into the actual house assuming things don't continue as present and this is my damn house!! I could go on forever but you get the jist some peoples are much "nicer" than others mine would be near the rustic end of the bell curve. Also, It wouldn't be a 100% he man woman hater room cuz if I didn't have Haily I wouldn't have anything and I'd wish her to spend as many hours in there with me as she could stand. May even put a big easle in one corner so she could paint while I get ready for the 2018 Queen of Kings Tournament!!

My man room would also be my trophy room. The bigscreen tv is a must for college football games with a big couch and a few recliners. The room would be painted garnet and gold and the center of the wood floor would have some sort of painting of chief oceola and renegade right before he throws the spear. I would have a refrigerator that will be stocked full of miller lite at all times. I would have a urinal in one of the corners. Pool table and darts might be added but are not one of the first things that would go in. I will have a BIG gun cabinet maybe even a small archery range. did i miss anything?

That's some pretty stuff, but I like mine better.

Now we are talking..................

I don't care for the bling bling stuff

some shop tools, a reel work bench, a wood carving bench, and maybe the finest knife sharpner ever made, a good ole redneck refridge with some bumper stickers stuck all over it

and some really nice calendars hanging on the wall

a place where you can scratch your balls really good if you need to
