I have a 2004 SeaHunt Escape 200 (dual console) w/ 150 Yamaha TXRB (2 stroke). It has the anti-feedback steering, but I am curious as to whether it would make much difference if I had hydraulic assist steering installed. I've received a few different opinions - some folks say it doesn't make that much difference on that size boat, others say it does make a difference. Any comments or suggestions from some of you more knowledgable folks? Also, I haven't called around to find out how much this might cost. What would be ballpark cost for adding this?

Thanks in advance for any help!

Hydrolic steering is the best in my opinion. It is very smooth. I would recommend getting on a boat of similar size and power to test for yourself if it is worth it. The price for the parts will range from $900 to $1600 depending on where you get it from and the system you get it. Labor depends on where you get it done. Give me a call if you want to discuss further.

Teleflex makes a baystar hydraulic steering system that is made for your size boat, I believe the price is mid $800. Approximately 4 hours labor to install $300.

I love my hydraulic steering. You can take your hands off the steering wheel, the motor doesn't turn at all. Sea-r-cy

If you want to do it yourself you can get the Baystar for less than $500 on the internet.
