"Charlie Moore" vs. Who on the P/cola Pier in Cobia Season?

ESPN produces a TV Show called "Beat Charlie Moore". Charlie is a guy from Boston that takes Challanges from anyone and shows up to fish against them on their water and fishing their way. He claims to be unbeatable, and has an impression of being very cocky and arogant, but that is more than likely TV drama, but the Boston Accent does add some arrogant ooze to the show.

If I sent in a challange to ESPN to challange Charlie Moore to fish against someone on the P/cola Pier during Cobia Season, who would be the most unforgiving, difficult, and brash person to pit him against? Normally the show is produced over the course of a day, and edited to a 30 minute program. So it would more than likely one cumbersome day for the pier and regular anglers. Wouldn't it be cool to watch the supposedly unbeatable, cocky and confedant Charlie Moore try to find a fish or a spot against the rail, not to mention fish against the High Talent he would be fishing with and against?

I would love to see him with a manual reel.

Who should be the challange and who's up for it?

took my girl(4) for about an hour tonight.she caught a 15''spanish and a 8'' black snapper.they both went back. saw a bull red get caught and some ''trash'' fish. ly are still around.battery was dead in camera.:doh

caught another nice mess of fish yesterday on the pier. snapper and spanish were eating the pier down lots of small ones though few small kings biggest being 20" .lot of fun

Me and my buddy Brandon went out last night around 9:30 to the Palofox pier.....Ended up buying some shrimp and went to town on the fish.....Several black snapper, lots of white trout (never would eat one in the past but figured what the heck), blue fish, red fish, lots of mullet, one ribbon fish.....Well we had a real good time ended up staying till about nine the next morning and no one had got a king bite just lots of spinner sharks out there....Well we had a blast and wish everyone good luck and keep the lines tight!!!!!

Started off pretty slow. Lady fish action got the crab baskets launched and the shark pole in the water. Live shrimp, cut bait, and squid were on the menu. My oldest boy hauled in a couple nice croaker, a friend of ours caught a nice black snapper and whiting, and I caught 1 white trout, and 14 blue crab. not a bad night for us considering, atleast we did not get skunked. I can not for the life of me figure out why people go to the bridge ,or pier for that mater, with medium action rods and 12lb. test and expect to get there catch up without a net. Although I think it is on pourpose, If I ever go unprepared I always need it or something else I may have left behind. That being said a fellow angler caught a black drum in the 30" range around 18lbs. and a lady angler caght a nice flatie arond 20". drum was hauled up and released (by me) flatie was hauled up (by me) and taken home. Thats my story and i'm stickin to it! Sorry no pics the only two I took my son somehow erased!

hit up the bech pier this morning in hopes of a king with no luck but managed these few nice snapper after 15-20 hooks 2 dozen shrimp and countless rudder fish and hard tails also few spanish running but pretty good dinner anyway

I caught a decent cobia off sikes today trying to catch flounder his was about 6-7 pounds maybe 25 in long or so i'll try to get the picture on here but it's on my phone? i saw 1 other one get caught (very small) and some guy said they have been catchin them just about every day!

Got to Okaloosa pier about 9:30 this morning. Me and my buddy Christian hooked up about 11:00 on tarpon. He broke his off after a few minutes and I got mine to the pier after about 40 minutes. My other friend caught a barracuda. Saw about 10 tarpon come by, but no others were hung. Left about 4:00. Saw 3 kings caught.

Has anybody been to Pensacola Pier ???

Arrived at the pier around 4pm, noticed the surf and the wind was high/rough so I decided to do a recon on the fishing conditions before hauling out the tackle. Halfway out on the pier (trough), one guy was using a gotcha, catching 1-3lb spanish on every cast, watched for a few minutes and noticed about a 1.5 acre of spanish feeding on glass minnows, top water action, and countless skyrocket, yeah, a feeding frenzy!!! At that point, I headed back to the truck in a rush without running. The bite was on for 2hrs, the last 30 minutes Blues came in. I and others limited out, gave my share to a tourist. Gotchas was the lure of the day. Had a blast!!, can't wait for the next massacre.

Spanish On Palafox

I work down town and a coworker and I walk down to Palafox Pier everyday at lunch. We just got back from there and damn do I wish I had my pole with me. There are a bunch of Spanish knockin the hell out of some bait down there right now. There might be some small kings mixed in too. I think I will head down there after work and see if they still want to play.

Took my youngest, Logan, out Saturday evening. We 1st went out to the pass and noticed it was purty calm so we ventured out a little. Tried to get to 1 spot to find a dive boat anchored so we ventured further out and it started to get rougher. We made it to the 9-10 mile mark before I could get to the next spot but did not feel comfortable w/ my little un on board so we headed back in. I'd say seas got 2-3 by 1900 or so. We came back in and saw a few boats around Ft. Pickens and anchored down. Didn't stay long then decided to try the channel at the ole fishing bridge. We anchored down and stayed until about 2330. We caught a few croaker (bait fer next time), an eel, black drum about 13-14 inches, a hard tail that tried to eat the mono on a shark rig. I'm not sure how he got his lips tangled in the mono but he did. Had shark rigs tapping all night but no runners (using chunks of bonita). When we decided to pack it in for the night, Logan reeled up my last rig and low and behold a small (foot - foot and a half) shark had bit into a big bait and I guess his teeth were stuck cause when Logan put the rod down it just swam off like nothing was up. The bay was even purty choppy when we headed in. Good to just get out and run the boat even ifin there was nothing to brag about....

I hadn't been to the pier for awhile. Ernie had to get some rods finished so I left the baby with him while Hannah & I headed to the pier. I stopped and got a couple dozen shrimp and while paying for my shrimp the water from my baitbucket proceded to go all over the floor:doh. Corey was nice enough to loan me a bucket and off I went. So after loosing a 1/2 dozen shrimp to hardtails & then catching a few remoras I switched to a flashy jig hoping to catch a Spanish, I ended up catching two lizard fish :hoppingmad. At this point I'm not hopeful to catch dinner but I switched back to shrimp. I then caught 3 black snapper in 5 min and then 2 more about 30-45 min or so later. So all in all we had a relaxing evening at the pier. And a bonus Ernie is cleaning my fish for me :D

Lots of LY's and spanish... Lots of fun on light tackle. We arrived around 1:00 PM bite ended around 5ish... Using Flouro leaders and little hooks also landed some little Kings so be careful and make sure what your keeping...... Have fun and remember no shade and its hot umbrellas help a lot.... Should stay this way until hunting season....... :)

went to the pier on tuesday.....hardtail frenzy.....people catching kings but bite was not good for the good ones...baby kings all around......got serious sunburn....rest for the weekend

Went to OIP today , got there around daylight, stayed untill 2pm, Dead as dead can be, thousands of dead bait fish, tons of live bait fish around, did not see anybody catch anything at all, was a pretty crapy fishing trip all in all, whats going on in P'cola today???

To say that the action today was DEAD would be a severe understatement. I fished from 5:00am to 4:15pm and there was not even a single king run!! The best part of the day was around 11:30 when several schools of Jacks came by. Here's the one I caught:

Yeah the pic is crappy but I caught this 25pounder finally after 6 hookups including one big spinner that had me 7wraps from being spooled. Actually, after fighting the spinner, it didn't seem much to bringing the king in. I'm pretty sure the bigger ones will prove me otherwise.

hi guys! new to this forum!

went to the beach pier today!

today was a good day for both king, jack, and hardtails

i got bunch of hard tails

those vietnamese guys should load their coolers full with hard tails

after noon hard tails slowed down

jack and kings started show up

one guy caught a 30 plus king

the pic i uploaded: 1. the 30 plus king from the gentleman let me took picture
2. the hard tails i caught today

.............couple guys snap their lines with jack on the pillars under the pier

left at 4pm...should be more guys caught kings at that time....but i didn't get any...sad

going again tomorrow!!!!!!!!!won't give up!!!

Was there at daylight untill about 12, saw 2 spainsh on deck , the Kings were gone, huge schools of bait fish were all over, if you wanted hardtails you would have filled your cooler . Did anybody fish the afternoon???

Got out there bout 3...

Bunch of good kings early... a good many sharks around though:banghead

Finally got my first ever keeper king... about a 12 lber...hooked several other legal ones.. but they all spit the hook...All on cigs and a krocidile spoon

Tons and tons of undersized fish 6-8 o'clock

Right before dark someone had a hugeee 30+ lb king on...

sharky got it nothin left but the head...

All keeper kings landed were caught on hard tails and cigs

Went to Peg-Leg's for dinner.........pier walk afterward. There were more people on the pier than I have ever seen before in my life. There were at one time 36 people at the end doing nothing but catching hardtails. 5-7 at a time. They were using rigs big enough for Kings but had 8' long big sabiki rigs and were tearing the hardys up. I would of been pissed if the "fish" were running and had to fight for a spot because of all the "bait" catchers. There must've been 200+ out there. It was unreal. We saw nothing caught but hardtails and ladyfish. Unbelievable, the numbers there. They were lined up from the trough to the end on the east side. Unreal.

caught unlimited cigs and hardtails, .... spotted two kings and threw on them, nothing. played with flipper, that was fun. goin back later. i caught some weird jack looking fish, anyone know what it is? ( i think its a rudder fish ).

Arrived at 9am fished until about 4pm at the P'cola Beach Pier. Got rained out temporarily around lunch time but quickly came back for more. Some kings on the deck in the morning with several hook ups and break offs afterwards. A few Spanish (I managed to land a fairly decent sized one and one smaller one using Gotchas). Hardtails were thick as usual. Saw a few schools of Tarpon just out of reach from the T and several good sized sharks. Flipper was out but didn't seem to be bothering us much and stayed far enough away from the pier to not interfere however, he did try to chase the big Spanish I caught but my reel was faster and he lost The highlight of my day was catching a hardtail on my Gotcha and having a big King take a swipe at it while I was reeling it in, got my heart pounding a little because I was using a light rod and tackle. Overall a fun day.
